Community & Belonging

At Converse we are committed to fostering belonging and celebrating differences, educating the community of the benefits of our core values and sharing our belief that a rich educational experience should be open to all. Converse offers cultural development opportunities grounded in social justice and belonging for students, faculty, staff and community through a variety of programming and activities. Through this, we strive to create a safe and supportive campus environment that encourages achievement and success for all.
On-Campus Organizations
Converse’s many clubs and organizations are a great way to make friends, learn new skills, and effect positive change in our community. Our student organizations evolve from year to year, and students even have the opportunity to start their own club or organization. Check our our Clubs and Organizations for a sampling of the many clubs, groups, and academic honor societies in which Converse students have participated.
Community Support
Converse University values and celebrates the many backgrounds, cultures, experiences and perspectives of our community members. By encouraging and celebrating these differences, we create an environment that promotes freedom of thought and academic excellence.
Converse is committed to fostering a community that embraces and encourages our Core Values which include integrity, respect, and community. We recognize the legitimacy of individuality in belief, expression and perspective, and we pledge to exercise civility, mindfulness and responsibility in words and actions. Actions that are antithetical to these Core Values are a violation to the University Honor Code and will not be tolerated.
Name Change Requests
Name changes such as preferred names and nicknames are made upon request by the student. The Office of Community & Belonging will change the student’s preferred name and/or title upon request by the student. For all students, Enrollment Services will change a student’s given first and last name only with proof of a legally executed change. These changes will alter the student’s information in nearly all University records.
